Prompt Writing Guide

Both creative and specific prompts work great — it depends on what you need.

The key insight

Vague prompts are creative — the AI takes artistic liberty and often surprises you with great ideas you wouldn't have thought of. Specific prompts give you control — when you need exact brand colors, precise timing, or specific text content. Both approaches work. Use Batch mode to generate multiple options either way.

Creative freedom vs precise control

Creative prompt
"Make a cool 10-second video for my bakery's opening"Try this prompt

No name, date or style given, so FrameCall chose all of it.

Controlled prompt
"A 10-second 16:9 opening video for Crumb & Co, a neighbourho..."Try this prompt

The name, lines, style and timing are exactly as written.

When to use which approach

Go creative when...

  • You're exploring ideas and don't know what you want yet
  • You want the AI to surprise you with a fresh take
  • You're making personal/hobby content
  • You're using Batch mode to compare different directions

Go specific when...

  • You have brand guidelines (colors, fonts, tone)
  • You need exact text content (names, prices, URLs)
  • Timing matters (syncing with voiceover or music)
  • You're creating for a client or company

Tips for controlled prompts

When you need specific results, here's how to guide the AI:

Creative
"Make a cool intro"
Controlled
"Use electric blue (#3b82f6) and purple (#8b5cf6) gradient on a dark #09090b background"
Creative
"Design something nice"
Controlled
"Dark theme, Inter font, minimal layout with a subtle gradient shift. Match our brand palette."

Timing & Pacing

Creative
"Animate some text"
Controlled
"Logo at 0s with spring bounce, title at 0.5s, features one by one starting 1.5s, CTA at 3s"
Creative
"Make it move nicely"
Controlled
"Use spring physics (damping:10) for bouncy entrances, 5 second total duration"

Text Content

Creative
"Add some info about our product"
Controlled
"Title: \"LaunchKit\" (56px bold), subtitle: \"Ship in days, not months\" (20px gray), features: \"Real-time Sync\", \"AI Powered\""
Creative
"Put our details"
Controlled
"Company name \"Acme Corp\", tagline \"Since 1985\", URL acme.com, phone (555) 123-4567"

Scenes & Structure

Creative
"Make a product video"
Controlled
"Scene 1 (0-2s): logo reveal. Scene 2 (2-4s): 3 feature pills slide in. Scene 3 (4-5s): CTA with glow."
Creative
"Create an ad"
Controlled
"Show product name, then price ($79 crossed-out $149), then 3 features, then Shop Now button"

Controlled prompt template

Use this structure when you need precise results:
