What Can't FrameCall Do?

We believe in transparency. Here's what you should know before you start.

Being honest with you

FrameCall is a powerful tool, but it has limits. Understanding these upfront helps you get the most out of it and avoid frustration.

No real video editing

FrameCall can place an uploaded clip inside a composition, but it doesn't key, track or rotoscope footage. Think of it as a motion design tool, not a video editor.

Export your FrameCall animation as MP4 and combine with footage in any video editor.

MP4 only

Exports are MP4 (H.264). There is no GIF export and no transparent (alpha) export, and accounts that have never bought credits export at 720p with a framecall.com watermark (top-left and bottom-right).

Convert the MP4 to GIF in another tool if you need one. Any credit pack removes the watermark and the 720p cap for good.

Long-form complexity

Animations over 30 seconds get harder for AI to maintain quality and coherence. The sweet spot is 5-15 seconds.

Create multiple short segments and combine them, or use the iterate feature to build up complexity gradually.

Two minutes per video

A single video can be up to two minutes long, at up to 60fps. New projects start at 1920x1080 (16:9); other aspect ratios like 9:16 or 1:1 are one message away.

For longer pieces, create several videos and join them in any video editor.

Google Fonts or your own font files

Any Google Fonts family works (there are more than 1,900), and you can upload a font file (woff2, woff, ttf or otf). Fonts linked from other sites can't be loaded.

Name a Google font in your prompt or pin it in the Brand Kit. If your brand font isn't on Google Fonts, upload its file with your other assets.

A fixed set of libraries

Videos can use the libraries FrameCall hosts: GSAP, Three.js, D3, PixiJS, Lottie, p5.js, Matter.js, simplex-noise, Rough.js, KaTeX and Lucide icons. Arbitrary npm packages and scripts from other sites can't be loaded.

That set covers 2D and 3D graphics, charts, physics, math and icons. Anything else can be written as plain JavaScript inside the project.

No real-time interactivity

FrameCall creates pre-rendered video compositions, not interactive web experiences. No click handlers, hover states, or user input.

Export as MP4 for use in presentations, websites, or social media.

AI isn't perfect

The first generation might not be exactly what you want. Sometimes the AI misinterprets your prompt or makes visual choices you disagree with.

Iteration is the workflow. Use Variants to get multiple options, then refine your favorite.

What IS possible despite these constraints

Even with these limitations, you can create professional motion graphics in minutes. Here are some real examples made entirely with FrameCall:
